Cultural exchange
Since 1994 DGI has provided young gymnasts a unique opportunity to experience the world. Through the immense world tours the athletes obtain a personal development and cultural immersion.
National Danish Performance Team is ambassador of Danish culture, heritage and community service, and the athletes are very much recognized for this both at home and abroad.
The team inspires exercise, movement and a healthy lifestyle, and they are at eye level with their peers and everybody else they meet around the world.
Give and take
Cultural exchange is about being open-minded and eager to learn.
National Danish Performance Team of course promotes the Danish display gymnastics and philosofy of training, but it is vital for the continued development of gymnastics in Denmark to get new input and inspiration.
It is very common for the team to incorporate new movements and routines in the show during the world tour.
When the team returns to Denmark after more than 6 month around the world, the Danish audience are excited to see what has inspired the team.
General education
Performances and workshops are of course a major part of a world tour, but the cultural dimension is even as important. Meeting different cultures, sightseeings and staying with host families are important elements and contribute to the general education.
Eventually, the international and intercultural experience will lead to a broader global understanding.
