Be a host family

Host families are a key component of National Danish Performance Team experience. Since 1994 more than 1.200 families in 6 continents have hosted team-members.

Host families open their homes, their hearts and their refrigerators to the young Danes. They are unfailingly warm and welcoming; they have always made the NDPT visit a remarkable and memorable experience.

A host family gives the athletes a local perspective on the community they're visiting, its culture, language and customs. In turn, the host family will gain insight into the Danish culture, the life “on tour” and get to know a few young Danes.

New friendships

Typically a host family houses two danes for a few days or a week, the host families provide a bed, some meals and local transportation for the hosted team members. At some occasions the host family can take the gymnasts on sightseeing, to family activities and enjoy local events, depending on the itinerary.

Many friendships and relationships has occurred and developed between host families and a NDPT member.

Host family responsibilities

We require that the hosted team member has:
• A proper bed every night.
• Access to shower / bathing facilities.
• Access to a washing machine.
• Bed linen, covers, pillows etc. provided.
• A private room.

Becoming a host family

It is usually the local or the regional coordinator who register and distribute the host families. Please contact us, if you would like to host a National Danish Permance Team member.
